Happy Anniversary

Today is my wedding anniversary. My husband and I are celebrating 14 years together. We're keeping it pretty low key. A nice dinner at home - steaks on the grill with all the sides. When we planned our wedding date originally, we chose Thanksgiving weekend because he was living out of state and would be able to travel over the holiday weekend for us to get married. Turns out getting married on a holiday weekend kinda complicates things when there are kids involved. I mean, who's gonna keep your kids over Thanksgiving weekend so you can enjoy a romantic day or two away, right? Ah well.

So I went downstairs last night to make him a card. I really had no ideas about what I wanted, I just started looking at some past cards and my stamp sets hoping for inspiration. My Medallion stamp was out on the table so I decided to use it. Then I remembered this great technique that Shelli Gardner showed at Regionals with it. It's pretty basic technique (called emboss resist) that has a real WOW result. I clear embossed the Medallion on Confetti White paper. Then I sponged Brilliant Blue, Crushed Curry, Dusty Durango and Mellow Moss randomly over the image. The really cool trick that Shelli showed was to then lightly sponge/rub Pumpkin Pie over all the colors. It doesn't really show up as orange, it just knocks off the brightness of the colors. The sentiment is stamped in StazOn black. I love the end result! I do have to admit that I had to remove the plastic off of my Dusty Durango ink pad and card stock (hanging head in shame). I'm not sure why exactly, I LOVE blues and greens! I've even picked it up to use before, but it never felt right for the project. I know that dearest hubby won't even care much or appreciate the details of the crafting itself, but he'll enjoy the sentiment.

More Stamping with Shimmer

This card features the Debossing technique like yesterday's samples. You can view those HERE for a detailed description. What I also added to this card, was shimmer paint on the ribbon. I sponged the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint onto the Kraft taffeta ribbon for some added shimmeriness :) The color is a bit distorted in my photo, but this card uses Ruby Red card stock and goes so well with the shimmer paint.

For this card, I sponged the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint on the baroque pattern of the Stampin' Up Backgrounds 1 Texturz plate. Layer Confetti Cream cardstock and run it through the Big Shot. I considered sponging Soft Suede Ink on the raised areas to give them more definition, but decided to leave it with a softer look. I stamped 2 of the medallion images from Baroque Motifs stamp set then punched them out with 2 sizes of circle punches. The center one is popped up on a dimensional. I sponged the Vanilla taffeta with the Shimmer Mist as well.

Stamping with Shimmer

So I finally got around to trying out my new Shimmer Paint! It's been sitting patiently on my stamp table for a couple of weeks now. I have the Champagne Mist color, but will be ordering the other 2 colors as well! It's a lot of fun to work with, adding a great shimmer to your projects without the mess of glitter dust. It's best to use a sponge dauber to apply the paint. It can be used directly on your rubber to stamp, sponged to projects, or as I did on the following samples, sponged on your Big Shot emossing and texturz folders! I created 4 cards with the Big Shot. I'll post 2 today and 2 more for tomorrow. I photographed them in direct sunlight so the shimmer would show up better. I've also used the Shimmer Paint on a project for my upcoming Handmade Holidays class, so be on the lookout for that information.

Both cards feature the Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder. I mixed 1 drop of Pumpkin Pie reinker with 3 drops of Shimmer Paint, then sponged the debossed side of the folder just inside the rose images. Next I put the Apricot Appeal cardstock in the folder and ran it through the Big Shot. As a result, you get the Pumpkin Shimmer roses on the Apricot layer. I added a bit of Pumpkin Pie striped grosgrain across the top. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and stamped on a Metal Edge Tag. I sponged the Shimmer Paint on the edges of the tag to make the metal shimmery. I also stamped the center of the large rose image from the coordinating stamp set Fifth Avenue Floral. The tag is attached with a Stampin' Dimensional.

This card features the same technique, but just using the Shimmer Paint without reinker added. The card base is Kraft cardstock that is cut short with the Eyelet Border Punch. The Blush Blossom layer is adhered to the inside and creates most of the card front.

Breast Cancer Hope

An easy to make card using our Ribbon of Hope stamp. This was the bonus card that participants made at my Passionately Pink for the Cure Stamp A Stack. I love that you can simply change the color scheme to reflect your desired organization.

This is a card that was featured at my recent Passionately Pink Stamp A Stack. I CASEd (copy and share everything) a card from from Beth (SCS bigsky). Baby Sympathy

Baby sympathy. Those two words should never have to go together. Very sadly, a friend delivered a stillborn son last week. I made this card for her with a heavy heart. I normally don't post projects that use retired products, but I really wanted to share this. I hope it will let the family know that we are thinking of them.
