Quilted Top Note

I have seen some wonderful quilted top note cards lately and thought I'd try one for myself. This is a great way to use your Designer Papers- especially since they are on sale this month! To create the quilted look, I punched out about 16 squares of Raspberry Tart Designer Paper using the 1 1/4" square punch. I then took a quarter sheet of Pretty in Pink cardstock and covered it with the Anywhere Glue Stick and created my pattern of squares. I opted to use a diagonal pattern, but a simple straight line or brick pattern works well too. Don't worry too much about making sure the squares are glued on perfectly since you'll be running it through the Big Shot. Once you are happy with your design, you will then die cut the quarter sheet using the Stampin' Up exclusive Top Note Die. To create more texture, you can also use the harlequin pattern Texturz plate on your quilt - this idea was CASEd from splitcoast stamper traciac. This card also uses textured cardstock which adds anothersubtle layer of texture.

One thing led to another...

Tuesday started off as a normal day. What started as a day to run errands after my daughter's library class turned into new landscaping and plenty of sore muscles! During our errands we stopped in a local landscape shop to visit the manager and his wife who are dear friends - which led to the decision to go ahead and buy some veggies and annuals - which led to a couple of rose bushes. Once I got home I decided thtat the 2 dead bushes in front of my house had to go - which led to removing the 2 remaining live bushes since it was out of balance (I never like them anyway) - which required some rope and my husband's truck to pull the stumps. I'm still not finished since all that work just about did us both in LOL! To celebrate my new rose bushes, I decided to make a rose card with Fifth Avenue Floral set. I really do love this set - and I'm so not a flower person! Since I only sporadically do the weekly challenges, I like to combine challenges when I do get to them. This card uses the Ways to Use It challenge from a couple of weeks ago (use white cardstock) plus this week's Sketch Challenge.

 

I stamped the rose on Watercolor Paper with versamark and embossed in white. I used a Regal Rose marker and Blender Pen to color it in. The leaves were die cut using the Build A Flower set #2 die.I colored them with Glorious Green marker and an aquapainter but didn't like the end result. I decided to flip them over and let the green show up as a shadow behind the leaves. They were folded in half and run through the crimper for added texture. The swirl panel is Shimmery White cardstock, the base is Whisper White. Both have patterns using the texture plates and Big Shot. All panels and images are adhered with dimensionals.

Clean and Simple Krafty Sympathy

I combined 2 of this week's splitcoast challenges - the Clean and Simple Challenge to use a sketch provided, plus the Ways to Use It challenge to use Kraft card stock. I just got this beautiful new stamp set called Thoughts and Prayers (item #113252). I love the images and sentiments - it will get a lot of use. This card features a technique called Poppin' Pastels. The image is stamped with Versamark ink (item #102283) which is a watermark ink that stays tacky for a bit. Using a cotton tipped applicator, you then rub your desired color of Stampin' Pastels (item # 105542) chalk over the image and the pastel sticks to the ink. You may choose to set the chalk by spraying with a sealer. I did not for this card. Purse Stationery Box

This super cute stationery purse was created for my Mother's Day workshop last weekend. My friend Lori had one in different colors and I loved it. It starts as two 6x6 pieces of cardstock that are then cut at an angle towards the bottom. The pieces are adhered to a clear box that holds about 8 cards with envelopes. I purchased them from clearboxes.com. Since the stationery set used the Manhattan Flower Embossing folder, I used the coordinating Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set for the purse. The colors are Tangerine Tango, Ruby Red and Old Olive.
