Paper Pleating

This card was made for this week's Technique Challenge to use paper pleating on your card. Paper Pleating is pretty easy to do. I'm sure many of us spent hours folding fans and little notes when we were little! I eyeballed the measurements for the pleats on my Raspberry Tart Designer Series Paper, then used a bone folder to score and crease them. The main image was stamped twice - once in Kiwi Kiss and again in Rose Red. I cut the Thanks from the Rose Red adn mounted it on a dimensional to the Kiwi Kiss image. It was punched with the 1 1/4" square punch and matted with a Kiwi Kiss Square Scallop. I added Pink Taffeta Ribbon flags. The entire image was also adhered with dimensionals.

New Catalog Changes

I'm really pleased with the offerings in the Spring/Summer Catalog. It is now available for viewing in 2 forms - as a pdf file (be patient, it's big) or in the online ordering area. If you are interested in receiving your own copy, please contact me. I want to point out a couple of changes that Stampin' has made. First, the Supplies List that used to be in the back was removed to make room for more products. It can now be viewed here: SUPPLIES LIST. The other change I want to point out is the creation of the Dormant List. This is a list of products that do not appear in a current publication but can still be ordered. Faux Emboss Resist

Today's Ways To Use It challenge is to fancy up your background paper. I chose to do Faux Emboss Resist technique. The technique is pretty simple- stamp a bold image on your patterned paper with versamark, emboss in clear, and sponge or brayer ink until the paper is well covered. I used Raspberry Tart Designer Paper, embossed the large heart from Happy Heart and brayered *a lot* with Rose Red ink. Then I buffed the embossed image with a sponge to remove any residual ink. I plan to give the card to my husband for Valentine's Day, so I decided to not add a lot of embellishment. The upper white mat is punched with the Scallop Edge punch and pierced. I used the Heart to Heart punch to create a pop up heart on the I (heart) You sentiment. The tiny heart is on a dimensional, as is the entire sentiment piece.

Thank You Notes

After the holidays, my thank you notes were in desperate need of replenishing. I combined this week's Sketch and Color challenges and created these 2 thank you cards. The color challenge is Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose and Bravo Burgundy.

  

I broke open a brand new Designer Paper pack from the Spring/Summer catalog called Raspberry Tart and cut it out with Top Note Die and sponged with Bravo Burgundy. Regal Rose panel is sponged with Rose Red and Burgundy Image was inked with Kiwi Kiss, then the color removed from the flower heads with a Blender Pen and inked with Regal Rose and Burgundy markers. Sentiment was inked with Regal Rose and marker thumped with Burgundy Marker and popped up on dimensional. Stamp set used are: Kind Thanks and True Friend

 

My 2nd submission for this week's color and sketch challenges. I flipped the sketch to allow for this image. Main image stamped with Kiwi Kiss and watercolored using aquapainter (regal rose and bravo burgundy). Sentiment is on dimensionas. The Fower Fusion felt flowers coordinated perfectly with this color combination. Stamp sets used: Fresh Cuts, Kind Thanks

Spring/Summer Idea Book & Catalog

Top Note Valentine

 

This card was made for a couple of demonstrator challenges on splitcoast - to create a tent topper card and to use the color combo of Blush Blossom, Cameo Coral and Baja Breeze. A tent topper card uses a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 base that opens from the bottom, with an element that extends the top to traditional card size. This card featues the Love You Much stamp set which is currently available in the Love You Much bundle. It's sneak peak item that includes the Love You Much stamp set, coordinating Heart to Heart punch and Candy Lane Designer Series Paper.

I used the Top Note die with the Big Shot die cutting machine to create the topper. Since a benefit to the Big Shot is that with the Bigz dies multiple sheets of cardstock can be cut at the same time, I was able to cut the Blush Blossom and Cameo Coral together. Then cut at the perforation on the Blush Blossom piece. The edges were sponged with Baja Breeze. The Love image was inked with Cameo Coral, then using a blender pen to remove the ink from the "you much" and inked it with a Tempting Turquoise marker, then stamped. I then adhered the Vanilla taffeta ribbon. I stamped the hearts from Sprinkles stamp set across the bottom of the card base in Baja Breeze ink.

Baby Memory Can

A good friend had her second son born yesterday - on her first son's birthday! Since she used to work at a paint store, I knew I had to make her a memory can. These baby memory cans are designed to hold mementos and notes you make about the baby as they grow. I came across this sweet verse on splitcoast. I printed it to match Bashful Blue thanks to an RGB code also available on splitcoast. These altered paint cans are so adorable and really easy to make, just a little time involved. I chose Summer Picnic Designer Series Paper and decided to use 2 of the patterns. The edges of paper are covered with Bashful Blue grosgain ribbon attached with Sticky Strip. The verse was printed on Whisper White. I created a frame for it with the Big Shot Top Note Die in Real Red and attached it with Sticky Strip. I tied white, blue and red striped grosgain ribbons to the handle. The lid has a circle of Bashful Blue cardstock attached. Congrats Tara!
